We should be well and truly into Spring but the weather is still hit and miss with plenty of April showers! The mid-seasons sales have started which feels very odd as I’m not there yet with ditching any layers. I’ve made a conscious effort lately to not wear too much black. If you remember my last blog I resurrected an old favourite bubble gum pink jumper from my last year’s Summer wardrobe in an attempt to inject colour into my outfits. I’ve continued the theme with a little “outfit of the day” by wearing bright red! A colour pop coat is another really easy way of adding colour and some fun to your wardrobe and this item can actually be surprisingly versatile. This bright red ZARA coat has proved to be a useful piece to own as it’s lifted my greys and denim to new style heights! If I paired it with smarter tailored clothing I’d feel too suited and booted. Worn with distressed denim it became a whole lot more wearable for every day and made my new ripped jeans far less scary!
Wear smarter pieces with relaxed, casual separates to balance things out. I couldn’t carry off beaten up denim, Converse and a boho Tee but I do feel like me if I wear these jeans with a lady-like silk blouse; mid height court shoes and a tailored coat. Try mixing opposites together. Put denim with a pencil skirt; a denim shirt with tailored slacks and sneakers; Jeans with silk or cashmere separates… I know you get the idea? Think outside the box to create different, more unexpected outfits that will take you places!

I’m off! Places to go; people to see! Actually the kids were champing at the bit to get into Solihull to watch ZOOTROPOLIS at Cineworld. (NB: LOVED this film. What’s not to love about watching Shakira as a singing gazelle?) Highly recommend!
